Apple’s new iPad, formerly known as the Apple Tablet, has a 9.7 inch touchscreen, Wifi enabled (no 3G with AT&T or Verizon), A4 Processor chip:
The Apple iPad uses a 1GHz “A4″ chip that can decode HD video for up to 10 hours on a single charge.
More details from Gizmodo that were recently released are:
….a 9.7-inch IPS display, which is a type of TFT LCD that according to Stevesy has a “great angle of view.” It’s a full capacitive multitouch screen, like the iPhone, and also like its little (yet older) brother, it’s got 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+, an accelerometer, compass, speaker, and mic, as well as the standard 30-pin connector. It’s rated at 10 hours of battery life, which is absolutely nuts (and much better than we expected) for a device with a near-10-inch LCD, although who knows what the battery life actually is.

This is Part 2 of my tutorial on how to export a Wordpress.com Blog, and in this quick video, I’m going to show you how to buy a custom domain name from GoDaddy, if you haven’t purchased one already. The audio in the beginning of the video got cut off for a second or two, but no worries, it wasn’t anything too important!
Stay tuned for the rest of the tutorials and videos and let me know if there’s anything that I missed or that you’re specifically interested in knowing!
You can find Part 1 of the tutorial on my personal blog over here (The Joey Goodman Blog) or on my YouTube channel over here.
Although we’re slowly moving to a ‘paperless’ lifestyle, there’s still a lot of adjusting and adapting that we have to do in order to get to that point. In an attempt to keep my receipts and finances as orderly as possible, I’ve been using the Evernote app for my iPhone. You can use Evernote for taking notes on anything from text notes, to pictures of your computer screen, to pictures from your iPhone or any other smart phone. Evernote allows you to keep everything together in ‘notebooks’ that you can access from any computer or just about any phone. Even if you don’t use it for your receipts, it’s an unbelievable free tool to use.
I came across a service called Shoeboxed, which might be the ultimate answer to keeping and maintaining your receipts. I haven’t had a chance to use the service yet, but I wanted to pass on the knowledge anyway, and maybe get some feedback from anyone who has used it! Either way, I’m heading over right now to sign-up for Shoeboxed, and here’s my quick video that basically says everything that I just typed!
Do you use Evernote? Shoeboxed? How do you keep all of your receipts in order?
The true power of Twitter starts to shine through with the use of the applications that you can use along with Twitter. Hootsuite is a web-based Twitter app, that allows you to manage multiple accounts at once, send scheduled Tweets for a later date and time, and provides a great user interface that makes it easy to use. Hootsuite has a lot of functionality and power packed into it’s application, but for anyone who’s just getting started out on Twitter, or is looking for a desktop application to use, I highly recommend Hootsuite.
Here’s a quick introduction video that should help you get started. I just covered the basics, so if you have any questions about Hootsuite, or any other Twitter application, or just Twitter in general, let me know by leaving a comment below! I also added a full video tour underneath my quick introduction that I thought would helpful as well!
Feel free to pass this on to your friends and family, or use it in your blog! Don’t have a blog? Let me know and we’ll get you up and running in no time!!!
After my last post on open source office software, OpenOffice, I decided to install a productivity software application that can truly save you time and make your life easier, Dragon Naturally Speaking 10. Nuance’s Dragon software uses voice recognition technology to convert speech to text. Basically, speech to text software is exactly what it sounds like. You speak into your computer’s microphone or headset, and Dragon Speak will do the rest!
The installation of the Dragon Speak software was very easy. In order for the Dragon voice recognition programming to get used to my voice, I read some text for a couple of minutes that Nuance provided and it was ready to go! I used a blank text document from OpenOffice for this video, but Dragon Speak also works with e-mail programs such as Outlook, and other programs as well. There were no additional plugins or downloads for Dragon Speak to work with OpenOffice, making the process even easier than anticipated.
Although there were a couple of mistakes in the speech to text conversion, as you’ll see in the video, the Dragon software was very impressive, especially for the standard edition. I have to spend some more time familiarizing myself with the voice commands, becoming comfortable with my voice speed and simply spend some time training the software to specifically recognize the way I pronounce certain words. The fact that I’m from New York doesn’t really help, but the accent that I’m told that I have, apparently had a slight effect on the speech to text conversion.
Nuance Dragon Speak is made for PC’s only. In order to use speech to text software for your Mac, you’ll have to use MacSpeech Dictate. There are tons of ways to use Nuance Dragon that can save you time when typing documents, reports or even emails, but I just wanted to give you a quick look to see how useful technology can actually be. Did I mention that Nuance is working on Dragon Speak for the Blackberry? I guess we’ll have to get into that at another time, until then, enjoy the video and stay posted for more videos on how to use Nuance Dragon Speak and the different ways in which speech to text software can really help you out!
Do you use Dragon Speak or plan on using it? Leave a comment below and let me know!

**This is the same post that I put on my other blog yesterday, TheJoeyGoodmanBlog, and I’m going to post a more detailed article at another time, but it’s a nice introduction to Mozy.**
Having your computer crash and losing your data is a horrible situation. The panic immediately sets in, you start to call everyone you know to ask them how to recover it and you’re certain to get a million different answers which might not even work. It’s one of those times when all you can think of is ‘I should have backed it up,’ but it’s already too late. One way to avoid any and all of the above, is to use an online backup service.
The two most popular and well known online backup services are Mozy and Carbonite. I haven’t used Carbonite, although it comes highly recommended by most of its users. I have used Mozy, and it works like a charm! Not that I’ve ever had to retrieve any lost data, but the sign up, setup and back ups are as easy as can be. The best part about Mozy is that it’s a free online backup service up to 2GB. Depending on how much and what kind of files you keep on your computer, 2GB might be all that you need.
If you’re going to only use 2GB, then you’re going to have to pick and choose your most important files to store away. Let’s keep in mind that Mozy is free backup software, so who are we to complain? You can always up the storage to ‘unlimited’ for $4.95/month, and that’ll end all of your worries! Not only is Mozy free, but it’s automated as well. You set it up once, which is when you’ll pick which folders and files you want to back up, along with the time of day or night you want the automated backup to take place. The first backup can take a long time depending on how many files you’re backing up. After that, you won’t even know that Mozy is even there, except when the little box pops up to tell you that it’s done.
If for some reason you ever have to retrieve your missing or lost data, or even if you just want to make sure that Mozy is good on their word, you have a couple of options. You can restore your data from the web, a virtual drive or even order a CD filled with your files. There’s no credit card required, which is a huge plus in my book when signing up for anything, plus you can get additional GB’s of storage by referring other users. For every 4 people you send to Mozy, you get an additional GB of storage and backup.
Someone always asks me ‘how do you know that they won’t lose your data?’ The answer is that I don’t. Mozy has been around for years and they’re backed and affiliated with some big corporations. Can they lose your data? Of course! Will they? Odds are highly unlikely, but don’t take my word for it, seriously. I highly recommend Mozy, and use them myself (Mozy used to be only for Windows, but it’s opened its eyes and now provides its services for Macs as well), but don’t want to be responsible if something does happen.
So, with that disclaimer out of the way…..what are you waiting for? Try Mozy Today!
Do you use Mozy? Carbonite? Neither? Both? Let me know by leaving me a comment below!

This doesn’t need much of an introduction. All I can tell you is that if you’re looking to change your life for the better, this video is a MUST. I wish I could post it right here for you, but if you really want to change your life, you’ll take it one step further and click on the link below. Enjoy!
When I used an Apple computer for the first time, I never wanted to touch it again. Now, you can’t get my hands off of them! I’m using my MacBook Pro right now, as I stare at my beautiful iMac waiting for me on my desk. Come August 28th, they’re both in for a treat!
Apple announced today that Snow Leopard, the semi-new operating system for Mac users, is available for pre-order now, and will be officially available come August 28th. I use the term ’semi-new’ because Apple is still using OS X, but Snow Leopard promises some cool, interesting and helpful upgrades. (NOTE: The $29 price tag for Snow Leopard is for upgrades only. Apple is retailing the Family Pack of Snow Leopard for $49.)
Here are a couple of features that Apple is promoting for Snow Leopard:
Quicker, More Responsive Finder – “includes new features such as customizable Spotlight search options and an enhanced icon view that lets you thumb through a multipage document or watch a QuickTime movie.”
New Features/Look of Expose & Spaces - Expose “is now integrated in the Dock, so you can just click and hold an application icon in the Dock and all the windows for that application will unshuffle so you can quickly change to another one. Exposé also has a whole new look. Windows are displayed in an organized grid, making it even easier to find what you’re looking for. And stacks……are now scrollable, so you can easily view all items. You can also navigate through folders in a stack to see all the files inside it.”
Faster Time Machine Back-Up
Faster Wake-up and Shut-down
Higher Resolution iChat
Automatic Updates for Printers & Drivers
More Reliable disk eject
More efficient file sharing
As usual, Apple has listened to the masses and hopefully will deliver. Make sure to check out the other features of Snow Leopard at Apple’s site (All detailed information provided is property of Apple)
